Trauma Group for Men

Storm Blowing Through

This is a unique opportunity because men’s trauma experiences frequently go unaddressed despite creating significant problems with relationships and managing emotions. During the course of one day, we will have a series of 6 group sessions where participants will explore how past trauma may affect life in the present, build one’s strengths, and promote healthy coping skills; the impact of culture, gender, ethnicity and race on the response to trauma will also be explored. Evidence-based practices are combined with yoga and other mindfulness-based activities. The practice of trauma-informed yoga helps understand the body’s response to trauma and strengthens the capacity to manage emotions and self-soothe. The process does not require disclosure of traumatic events. What is trauma? We define trauma in its broadest sense – from losses and abandonment to discrimination and childhood abuse – since all of these experiences can lead to significant consequences in our daily lives.

This group is offered in English and Spanish.

In our combined experience working with traumatized men and women, we have witnessed the lack of resources for men to heal from trauma. We are hoping that this group will be one step in closing that gap and we bring our experience working with men in recovery from trauma to meet that goal.
